Peaches & Cream

Shoes | Shorts (similar here and here) | Top (similar) | Earrings (similar)

Is it Tuesday already? I think I pretty much just skipped Monday altogether by accident. I just wasn't prepared to come back to the real world. My sister and I had the most fabulous road trip last weekend. It consisted of lots of Starbucks, shopping, and laughing until we cry about every ten minutes. There is no one in the world who can make you laugh like a sister.

But onto the real world...we get one day of 75 degree weather and I'm pretty sure I'm on vacation. I managed to snag these beautiful little eyelet shorts from the Lily Pullitzer fiasco a couple weekends ago and let me tell you they are wonderful. They're perfect to just throw on and go up about 10 notches on the classy scale. I am now convinced that every girl needs a pair of white eyelet shorts in her closet, so I've linked a couple of similar options (unless you want to go on ebay and hunt these down)!

I'm also sporting another target purchase here, my new black heeled sandals that I absolutely love! I really had no idea that I would love these so much. I have been hesitant to purchase a pair like this for a while because I wasn't sure when I would actually wear them. The answer is every day. They're just so pretty and they look far more expensive than they actually are, which I love. One thing to note: the description online says that they are just over 2.5 inches, but they're actually more like 4, so don't expect to go dancing in them right away. However, these little beauties are oddly comfortable in that they are super flexible and stay exactly where you want them. Hello classy lady!

She's a Lady

Say hello to my first off-the-shoulder purchase this year. Technically, it's strapless but I see a little something there. I just had to say yes when I saw this beauty. It's got the perfect amount of structure, so it stays in place, yet it's still loose and relaxed. The crochet hemline was the icing on the cake though. I love a feminine detail that gives a dress a ladylike finish.

I can't seem to lay off the florals right now, but I'm okay with that. It's what I love. It's just my cup of tea. A very successful man once told me to "Be yourself everywhere". This wasn't the typical, be yourself everyone else is taken advice. He was simply saying, don't stifle your personality (or style) based upon who you're with. If you're a little quirky, be quirky in all scenarios. If you like to have fun, have fun! Don't suddenly become serious just because you're spending time with a co-worker. It's so easy to put ourselves into boxes. You might have your family box, your work box, your friend box,  etc. In each situation, you tailor your personality to what you think they prefer. I know from experience that this is exhausting! So, the advice I'm giving myself and to you if you're interested is to try to be yourself no matter where you are. Now, obviously there's a time and a place for everything, but being open and honest about who you are and what you enjoy helps people get to know you. When people get to know you, they're willing to have your back and help out just as you would with them.

In other words, do your thing, honey.

Mint and Oatmeal

I love oatmeal.

I love the color, I love the food, and I love the mask. You know what I love even more? Mint and florals! Put them all together, and you've got my go-to sunny day combo. You'll have to excuse the odd change in lighting, but clearly this was an all-day outfit since we took photos all over the place. There's something about a romper that makes you feel classy and put together, yet practical and ready for anything. I found this springy mint treasure at H&M the other day and it was only $18! It's super lightweight, great for layering, and it has pockets! Pockets are always a win in my book.

The Five Best Dates

Hello perfect date night dress!

I'll be honest, I was a little on the fence about this dress after I bought it. I had the initial rush at the store when I thought I'd found a treasure and then slowly over the next couple of days I started to doubt my decision-making skills. Was this, in fact, a treasure? Well I threw it on one last time to decide - and HELLO it's pretty much perfect. It's like the sisterhood of the traveling dress: nice on the hanger, but fits perfectly when you're actually wearing it. It somehow seems to hug and flow in all the right places. I bet if I were to send it to my three best friends, it would fit them all perfectly too...well maybe that's just in the (fantastic) book/movie series.

Anyway, I decided since I was wearing the dress I'd better show it off, so of course my man friend and I went on a dinner date. It got me thinking though, other than dinner out on a summer night, what are my top five favorite dates?

My Five Favorite Dates

1.) Farmers Market Treasure Hunting - We love to hit up the Ballard Market for pretty flowers, tasty veggies, and a street dog to finish, of course!

2.) Hiking/Outdoor Exploring - Living in the Pacific Northwest, we've got ample opportunity to hike and explore in some of the most beautiful places!

3.) Paddle boarding/Soaking up the Sun - We are definitely paddle boarding novices, but we are always game for anything involving the sunshine and some water!

4.) Cooking together - Throw on some jams and get cooking! A pizza from scratch is often our go-to, I make the crust and he's the pizza sauce wizard. We usually end up laughing until we cry and I often get kicked out of the kitchen for taking my sweet time or eating all of the toppings.

5.) Disneyland - because it's the happiest place on Earth, duh!

In the end, it doesn't really matter what you do, just put a smile on your face and go have some fun already! What are your favorites?

Spring's Best Booties

Spring's Best Booties

Clockwise from the Top:
Steve Madden | Trouve | TOMS | Steve MaddenTOMS | Vince Camuto Dolce Vita | Kelsi Dagger

There are so many things I love about warm weather attire - floral dresses, flowy skirts, and classy crops just to name a few.

However, saying goodbye to my precious booties is not on the top of my list. Since I pretty much live in booties from October to March, I'm usually reluctant to pack them away for the summer. Here's some great news though, warm weather no longer means bidding farewell to our beloved bootie, it means buying some lovely new ones. From cut outs, to peep-toes, there are so many beautiful spring time bootie options out there right now I can barely contain myself!

I've selected my favorites as a guide above and I'm pretty sure I need all of these beauties in my closet ASAP. What are your favorites this spring?

Sunday Detox Salad

If you're anything like me, you tend to eat fairly healthy throughout the week right up until the weekend hits and then all bets are off. Weekends often consist of brunch with friends, dinners out and about, or just not wanting to cook period. This leads to the Sunday evening reality check when you realize that hot dog you had for lunch or the extra scoop of ice cream you simply needed probably wasn't the best idea and now it's time to get back on track, aka the Sunday detox. In the winter, I love to go for a simple homemade vegetable soup, but spring has sprung my friends and it's salad time!

A friend referred me to this delicious power-packed salad and I decided to give it a whirl. Kale, carrots, and hemp seeds keep it packed with protein and nutrients while the apple cider vinegar delivers fabulous detoxing benefits. And did I mention, it's delicious? The best part is, it's easy to store and it gets better over time so, you can make a big batch and eat it all week long.

It's impossibly easy. Simply whisk together the dressing from the wet ingredients, mix the nuts and veggies and combine. Voile, you're a chef!

Casual Stripes

Jacket | Boots (similar) | Tee | Jeans | Hat (similar)| Clutch (similar) | Watch | Bracelets

Oh lazy weekend mornings, how I love thee. My man friend and I woke up fairly early this morning (we're old), threw on a sweater and took a stroll down the street to our favorite bakery for almond croissants and lattes. We then promptly did an about face, walked home, and put our pjs back on to relax. Best morning ever. Eventually we made our way out of the apartment to greet the day (around 3) and I got to wear my new military jacket!

I'm pretty excited because I've finally found a long, lightweight, hooded, green military jacket! Hooray! I happened to stumble upon this guy at F21 for only $40. It's perfect for this on again off again spring we've got going on since it's lightweight AND hooded. It will also be great with dresses or pants since it's got the nice long length going for it. On another note, I've been going all out with horizontal stripes lately. Apparently, the no horizontal stripes rule went out the window at some point because they're everywhere, and I'm loving it. I'm a pretty big fan of this boxy Madewell version I've got going on here. They're sold out of this pattern, but they've still got the style in stock. The classic tee can keep a slouchy, casual ensemble looking nice and crisp...even on the laziest of days.

The New Nautical

It's here!

It's that wonderful in-between weather that's just cool enough for a light sweater and jeans, but not quite warm enough to bare any actual skin. This roomy H&M sweater is perfect to just throw on and roll out this time of year. It's cozy yet breezy, and super versatile. I also love creating a sort of undone nautical look by throwing in some distressed jeans and a little splash of neon, which makes this bright yellow ASOS crossbody a fantastic addition.

I'd love to tell you that this outfit went galavanting around with me on some epic adventures, but in reality I went out and grabbed a burger with my man-friend and car shopped a little. The good news is, I plan on having this look on repeat all the way through springtime!
