Something Old, Something New

Clutch (old) Similar / Target Dress / Target Shoes (old) similar / Nordstrom Necklace (similar) / Disneyland hat (similar)

I'm a notorious clothing pack rat. Most other things in my life, I'm happy to clean house with, but clothes I will keep forever. Every time I realize I need to clean out my closet (usually at the suggestion of my husband), I find items I purchased years ago and never wore. This obviously becomes a challenge to wear it immediately to prove it's still relevant as crazy as it looks. These shoes are just that.

I paired the wedges with a pretty simple look since they're kind of a spotlight stealer. This dress though. It's fabulous, It's the perfect basic to dress up or down or accessorize to death, if that's your thing. Also, it's now on sale! I would suggest purchasing it in all colors.

Oh and one last thing: if you're wondering about my Disneyland hat, yes I really purchased that at the Indiana Jones shop in Disneyland. My best friend and I went on a trip in 2010 and my poor Scottish head could not take the direct sunlight all day. I marched right into the nearest shop and purchased a pretty perfect fedora that I've worn for years since, thus proving that you can buy a useful souvenir in Disneyland. You just never know.

Plain and Simple

J Crew Tee / Gap Denim / Keds Dottie Sneaks / Madewell Leather tote / F21 Floral Necklace

I've been all about the Keds for as long as I can remember. I sported them with my stirrup leggings as a tiny tot and then proceeded to wear them through high school, college, and my current state of early adulthood. It's come to a point where there are two things that I can pretty much guarantee Santa will bring each year, Keds and OPI nail polish. Lucky for me, the designers at Keds have come out with about a bajillion adorable new styles over the last couple of years and I can't get enough of them (thanks T-Swift)! Whether you snag a pair of Kate Spade editions or go for the classics, it's pretty easy to find an adorable pair for anyone!

Side note: I was snooping around on the Keds site and found these stellar, low-cut, incognito socks that come in an array of colors fit for a unicorn. You can wear them with all your tennis shoes that you pretend to be barefoot in, but secretly aren't. And they're cotton, cotton! With a heel gripper! I was sold. Just thought I'd pass that along.

The New Yoga Pant

H&M Skirt  / Bar III tee (old) / F21 Necklace / Target Sandals / Madewell Bracelets / Essie Fiji Nails

Cotton on jersey on cotton. What could be more comfy for a lazy Sunday? For me, a simple jersey maxi skirt is my go-to when I really want to wear yoga pants out and about, but I know I need to be an adult and wear real clothes. With a statement necklace and a fiesta of bracelets on your wrist, you can easily convince someone that you put a lot of thought and time into looking snazzy for your lunch date.

The coolest part about this maxi skirt is that you can buy it at H&M for less than twenty bucks. It's a staple. It looks pretty lackluster on the hanger, but oh girl, there's so much you can do with the skirt, if you put your mind to it. It also comes in about 46 other colors (exaggeration), so go for the patterned look if your feeling really wild.

Red, White, and Blue

Target Denim / Brandy Melville head scarf, similar here

It doesn't have to be Independence day to wear red, white, and blue, which is a good thing since I wear some variation of this outfit every time I'm in a rush to get out the door. It took me a while to get on board with the chambray idea, but ever since I purchased this little popover, I'm a changed woman. It's so easy and looks good with just about anything: tucked into a skirt, layered over floral shorts, whatever your heart desires. I know I'm late to the game on this one, but if you're on the fence too, make it happen. You'll be happy as a clam that you did.

A Romp in the Park

Frenchi RomperSimilar / Franco Sarto Wedges / Baublebar Necklace, Similar /  Sunnies / Nordstrom Earrings, Similar

One of the things I love most about Seattle is that there is always something new to discover. Of course, every time I turn around there's a new restaurant to try or a new shop to stop into, but what I love best is discovering new outdoor spaces right outside my door. Sometimes you just need to go outside, find some sunshine and relax! My husband took me to this park with a beach front that I'd never even heard of yesterday and it was only 10 minutes from my house. I can't wait to go back this weekend for a picnic.

I got this snazzy, open back romper on mega sale at Nordstrom a couple of weeks ago and it's pretty fantastic. It's such an easy throw on that works for just about any occasion. I love that the simple black and white palette with a high neckline allows for some crazy accessories, if you're so inclined. It would also be pretty adorable with a long cardigan and some booties, so you may see a remix in the near future.

Roman Holiday

Top - Target / Skirt - J Crew / Shoes - Seychelles / Bag - J Crew Factory / Necklace - Baublebar (similar here) / Sunnies - Ray Ban

Something about a collared shirt and a flouncy A-line skirt makes me think I'm Audrey Hepburn for a minute. If you've seen Roman Holiday, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, you've got homework because honestly, it's kind of the greatest movie ever.

This skirt is on sale at J Crew right this very minute and it fits like a dream. It's got the perfect bit of structured poof that keeps its shape all day and doesn't have a bunch of uncomfortable extra fabric underneath to do so. So voile, the perfect summer afternoon throw-on!

I'm also a big fan of the high-waisted skirt, tied button down shirt combo and this shirt from Target works perfectly. It's really soft and comfy, not stiff like most button downs I own, so it's easy to work with.

Now I just wish I were off to ride a scooter through the streets of Rome and nom on gelato all day like Audrey Hepburn…I'll start with ice cream.

Totes Adorbs

Top - similar / Shorts Forever21 / Shoes old (similar, but cuter) / Bag Madewell / Earrings Kate Spade

Anybody else feel like you're slowly becoming your Dad? Just me? Well my dad wouldn't wear this exact outfit, but I'd like to think he'd approve of the color scheme. The older I get, the more navy and brown I throw into my wardrobe, just like good ol' pop.

It took me a little while to commit, but here I've got my trusty transport tote from Madewell. It may very well be one of my top ten best purchases ever. I take it everywhere. It's roomy, durable, casual, yet kind of professional and I just love it so much I could go on for days. A word to the wise though, make sure you take a wee bit of time to pretreat it when you buy it (try Bee Natural Leather Finish Wax) to avoid any scary stains or unnecessary care. Once that's done, get ready to tote this little beauty everywhere you go!
