When you Least Expect it

Don't you just love those mornings when you wake up with zero plans and end up on a fabulous, average, everyday adventure? Well that happened a couple of days ago. I woke up knowing that I didn't want to sit at home all morning and that there were some pretty crazy looking leaves outside, so I proposed a nice drive...too a random garden, to the mountain, to the beach, and through every neighborhood in between.

What uniform does this require, you might ask? My brand new wool wrap coat, of course! It cost me a grand total of about $35 dollars and feels like I just threw a heavy blanket over my shoulders. I love those pieces that let you trick the average folk into thinking you're wearing something classy, when in reality, I could pair this sucker with some leggings and boots and feel as though I've been transported to my couch at home, donning cozy pjs and my blanket.

Autumn's Here!

Autumn's Here!

Today I had the morning off. "That sounds like the perfect time to run some of those pesky errands that have been piling up", you might say. Instead, I took one look outside and brewed up a pot of coffee, lit my apple scented candle and dreamed up the only outfit that might tempt me to go outside on a perfectly chilly morning. The only thing missing is a hot cup of spiced cider.

The Old Standby

There's something so great about a piece of clothing that can stand the test of time. Everything in this ensemble has been mine for at least a year and a half. I picked up this twelve dollar, mustard scarf at H&M on my first trip to New York City over 6 years ago! It was like my gateway drug to all things mustard colored and I've worn it every year since.

My husband, my old standby outfit, and I woke up a little early this morning. We baked something sweet for breakfast, pounded a bit of coffee and hit the road to visit a quiet neighboring town for some fresh air. Today was a day for a quiet stroll and watching the leaves fall, a weekend activity that will always stand the test of time...unless it's summer (or winter, or spring).
